teen all over again

yeah, teenage feelings and songs and videos all over again... i know i'm probably getting a little too old for that, but hey what can I say? I guess i'm a late bloomer who's turning 25 and, professional life aside, feels like an 18.

Ás vezes

Ás vezes gostava de publicar tudo o que escrevo.

Ás vezes fico mesmo vai não vai entre o botão "Publicar" e "Guardar".

Ás vezes não resisto.

Ás vezes obrigo-me a algo mais subtil.

Outras vezes, muitas vezes, convenço-me que há coisas que é melhor não serem expressas. Por muito sinceras que sejam. Por muita vontade que tenha de as dizer. Por muito que gostasse que as soubesses.

So I've been working with birds for the past 3 years... so what?

No one offered me 6 months of field work + 6 months of analyzing data/writing + possibly something more!

Having an year of guaranteed job, nowadays, and in my area, is just not that easy! Plus I'll be having lots of fun working :D Plus I'll be in one of my favorite parts of the country! What else could I ask for?  Seriously... It's so f*ckin great that right now I feel stupidly lucky!!!

Okay... yes... I'm very happy at the moment ^^

Ps: these bat people either really liked me, or are desperate for people to work with them! Either way.... =DDDDDDDD

É por estas e por outras que falar com um elemento masculino é sempre mais fácil do que com um feminino :)  e condicionantes do teu estado de espírito e mental à parte, ainda me conseguiste arrancar um sorriso... por isso já não foi mau :) melhor do que as muitas já derramadas lágrimas... mas o que não nos mata torna-nos mais fortes, e disso tenho que te agradecer. Só gostava era que encontrasses o teu caminho e deixasses esse de auto-destruição que tens teimado em seguir. Que o vento te levasse e ajudasse a encontrar o teu lugar ao sol :) Mas mais que isso, que te sentisses determinado em encontra-lo :)

Faia Brava

Ah ainda falta uma semana, mas mal posso esperar...!

Uma coisa é certa, convívio e Natureza não vão faltar!

Vai dar para matar as saudades da Faia Brava, do staff, e dos voluntários de sempre! ^^

Não vai haver abelharucos nem toutinegras-reais, mas provavelmente já se ouvirá "cucu-cucu" um pouco por todo o lado, assim como muitos "tek-tek-tek" das toutinegras-de-bigodes, e quem sabe com um pouco de sorte, avistemos no topo de algumas árvores e arbustos, os primeiros picanços-barreteiros deste ano na reserva! :)

E ao fim de 2 anos e meio a namora-los...

It's time

Need to find my inner peace. Need to find myself.  Need to find inner peace for myself. Because I'm tired of those walls. And I'm tired of those days. Where in the silence of the night my heart screams in agony. We've been lonely for so long... it hurts. So much. And looking back only hurts more. So I don't want to look back again. Ever again. I need to find myself. I need my inner peace. Hello loneliness :) I've been running from you for a while. It's time I find room for you. It's time I find room for me. It's time I step out into the world. It's time. Everyone deserves to be happy, I just have to give myself the chance. I can and I will.

Serra da Estrela

Sunday, 9am, warm sunlight slowly awakens me from my rest :)

It's been quite sometime since I last slept without an alarm clock...! These last few weeks have flown by and it feels great to finally be able to stop for a while. Under the blankets of my cold room I feel comfortable and in peace. Outside seagulls cross the bluish sky in risky flying maneuvers.  It's so nice to live by the sea :) My mind inevitably wanders to unwanted realms. It's impossible to tell yourself not to think about something without thinking about it. I guess only time can help me with this one. In the meantime I try to get busy, find time for me and for things I enjoy. Not that I didn't use to do that before, but now I can finally enjoy it on my own without wondering how nice it would be if this and that. Life without 'ifs' is so liberating.  

Saturdays have been filled with ringing sessions in Gaia. Although I haven't gotten any new species lately, it's always nice to go there and handle a couple of birds. It's the only real excitement I have during my whole week, what can I say?! Being stuck in the lab is not exactly my dream job, but a woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do! 

Last Sunday though, me and a couple of friends went to Serra da Estrela for a walk. It was great to be back on a mountain again :) to walk up and down the valleys and enjoy the greatness and strength of Nature! It had been a while since I last saw snow as well, so I felt like a little child ready for christmas! :D We started by walking down to the Zezere Valley and eventually climbed and walked down again to the Candeeira Valley. As we gained altitude to return to our starting point, snow covered the ground and sometimes formed amazing crystal-like carpets. Fox footprints could be seen on the snow every once in a while, and once even helped us finding our way...! :) I kept the binoculars with me all the time, but unfortunately I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Even on the Zezere valley all I could find were Wrens, Blackcaps, Great-tits, Blackbirds and a Buzzard that crossed the skies. The walk was more than worth it though and although I couldn't see what I wanted, I kept my faith that I would see it next time...

And I did! Thursday I went back to Serra da Estrela, this time with FAPAS to help planting some trees, and during our free time in the afternoon, near the Long Lagoon, there they were... 3 Snow bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis) to brighten my day! This second trip was a lot of fun ^^ The people were great and it had recently snowed, so I couldn't have asked for anything else! Except perhaps a Alpine accentor (Prunella collaris), but I guess that will have to wait =P

This Saturday beside ringing I went to the lab to help cleaning up the freezer, which took us the whole afternoon, and today...well today I did nothing ^^ Tomorrow there's more lab for me, but hopefully it will end soon enough!
