Yes yes yes. Today i feel like writing in english... happens every once in a while i suppose.
Soo... this week was another astonishing week (not lol). And as usual i did a lot of progresses (or not... -.-'). Oh well... i'm getting kind of used to it by now. I'll just make something up in the end, or do nothing at all... we'll see how it goes.
After the very productive day that was monday, tuesday just had to be as better xD First i had to wait for joão to get ready (as usual) and then on the way to the office he just gave up on going and asked me to leave him at home since the weather was looking so ugly... great xD he got me late and then he goes back home... That done, i just take my way to cidadelhe... sleepy and by myself i try not to fall asleep, but not even singing out loud seemed to work this time... it was a lucky drive i have to admit... Out of the car the drowsy feeling still takes a while to go away, but i manage to do the census till the end. At the end of my 2,5km of way back to the car, rain starts falling (heavily xD) and I decide to go home... The afternoon is spent around maps and inserting data in the computer. It's not bad for a change :)
On wednesday another television team goes to Faia Brava, this time an online one, Esposende TV. They're gonna try their luck on the vulture feeding site. And surprise of the surprises, they really were lucky. Around 40 griffin-vultures, 2 or 3 adult egyptian vultures, 1 juvenile and 1 sub-adult, not to mention the usual black-kites. Around noon everything was almost eaten, but my census were already done so i still got to watch a little bit of the fun from where eduardo was observing. After lunch, mammal transects accompanied by Eduardo =) In one of the ponds two cute creatures gave us a lot of fun ^^ Tiny Hyla arborea jumped around still with part of their tail =) The way back is hurried by the fact João and the photographers are waiting...
Thursday no one goes to the field except me. Good thing i can come back just when i want to. In the morning the usual census and in the afternoon mammal transects. The month is in its end and i've done very little, so i try to walk as much as possible. The infernal heat doesn't help me much, but i do the best i can. All the way through Cachão, back to Saboia and then to Coto on the north side of the reserve. Happily i got to see a few things along the way beside poop. Footprints every now and then, and the nicest ones i've found of Martes foina :)
In the middle of one of the roads something whitish captures my attention. It was an egg, probably of a tit. But its chance of survival was long gone... Maybe it fell from a nest? I dunno... but ants were rejoicing with its nutritious and probably sweet inside. I guess that's nature. Nothing is wasted. Everything serves a purpose in the end.

My walk is long and for a few moments endless... Sun burns my skin and the air is hard to breath, but eventually i get where i aimed to. I make a stop for a snack and enjoy the view =) The sound of the wind and water running fills me and my senses, as some griffin-vultures fly by, probably checking whether i'm still alive =P
I try not to think about all the way back and close my eyes...
How lucky can one person be?
